Waterloo Fun Festival
To end the year, LL1 went to the annual Waterloo tournament. The hockey on this weekend would be 'just for fun', but the heart & soul of the Wildcats would for sure come out!!
Game 1 on Friday would come right after school, playing a familiar foe. Oak Ridges kings come to the tournament with all the teams we had played against in their tournament. The Wildcats came out strong, getting a 2-0 lead. The tide shifted into the 2nd period, with the Kings coming back and tying the game. They would take a big lead up to a score of 7- 4 mid way through the 3rd. LL1 would dig down, claw back to a respectable 7-6 loss.
Saturdays games would produce a 3-0 win in the morning against the Durham Crusaders. The night game was not as good, with a loss to the Waterloo Purple AtoMc team 2-0.
The Sunday finale was for the hardware. The Wildcats were to play the Waterloo Red AtoMc team. A great game was fought up & down the rink, with tremendous saves by Conner to keep us in the game. The same could be said for the Waterloo goalie who was small & mighty. In the end, a very close 1-0 loss was to give us a silver medal in a great weekend.
