Games 17 & 18
To finish the season, the Wildcats would play 2 teams that are at the top of the standings. Saturday's matchup came against the Twin Centre team, who came to St. Jacobs ready to go.
Twin Centre would prove to be a good opponent on this day. The Wildcats would come out and tilt the ice for the fist period, keeping the Stars in their own end for most of the 1st. But there would be no score after one.
The 2nd period would be of the same, and still in the same end of the rink. Twin Centre began to win the puck battles, and hem our boys in for the most part. The Stars took the lead at the mid way point. More pressure continued by them, until a break out by Mac, shooting it '5 hole' to tie the game at 1.
The 3rd period would be many battles for the puck, & sacrifices made by taking a few unnecessary hits, particularly by our speedster Cody. But our boys pushed through, and Braxten was rewarded with the go ahead goal. Pressure kept up for the remainder, & with their goalie pulled, Woolwich would come away with a 2 -1 win!!!
Game 18 against LL#3 on Sunday, proved to be a rough one, not getting the hoped for result. This Reporter was not at the game, & cannot give a big story. The score was a 3 -2 loss for our team, but the last game of the season would not effect the playoff position. Our Boys head into the 'Group A' division, playing with the most familiar teams, being Twin Centre #1, and, of course Woolwich #3 & #4.
