Local League Program (Woolwich Minor Hockey)

PrintLocal League Program

Woolwich Minor Hockey Association participates in a Local League system for players wishing to develop their hockey skills, enjoy the game in a more relaxed atmosphere or as an alternative to the Rep program, for skilled players who do not have the time to commit to the Rep level of hockey.

WMHA Local League plays in the Grand River Local League Loop. The Grand River Local League is under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Minor Hockey League to provide recreational (Local League) hockey to players 19 and years and under. The centers involved are Ayr, Beverly, Embro, Hespeler, New Hamburg, Plattsville, St. George, Tavistock, Twin Centre and Woolwich

Local League includes multiple teams in each of the following age groups: U8 to U18.

Throughout the year there are tournaments for the local league teams to participate in. These include one - three day tournaments which can be local or farther afield.

This league also provides a great opportunity for adults considering coaching, training or managing a team. There are courses throughout the year provided by OMHA for support of the coaching and training positions, and some are now available completely online. Please, remember that your time as a volunteer makes these local league teams happen.
