Woolwich Cup Tournament
The home tournament was the focus for us this weekend. Our boys would never know what was in store for the games that lay ahead & all its surprises with them.

Friday night started out slowly and proved to be a real test against a New Hamburg team that we played earlier in the year. A back & forth ordeal would bring us to a 2 all tie for point in the tournament.

Saturday brought new beginnings & proved to be a turning point in the weekend, & I think our season. Our 9AM game was vs. the Waterloo Pillars team, who we will likely meet up again with in March at the Fun Festival. The Wildcats got things going right away, getting up 2-0 in the first. That momentum would continue through out the game and in the end, the Wildcats got their 1st win 6 - 2.

Game 2 was not far there after, playing against the Lincoln Blades at 12 noon. CK#4 got things going with a end to end rush to score his first goal! Woolwich kept the heat on putting the puck to the net time after time. The chances were there & they were going in too. Final score 8 - 1.

Sundays show down would come against LL#4. Winner goes to the final. It would take everything to stay with the strong players on their team. Our guys knew it too, and played their hearts out! The score was 1 all after 1 period, and 2 all well into the 2nd, but Mac got one more for a 3 -2 lead. The battle would carry on for 15 more long minutes in to 3rd, & LL#1 would prevail to win.

The Final would be no easier, facing Woolwich LL#3 to win it all. "This is just another game guys!", was what the message was in the room. Working now a as team more than ever, our boys believed in themselves with great determination. A 2 - 0 lead would get things off to a great start, but it would not be enough. The wildcats would claw back & forth with each other, getting to a 3 all with 10 minutes to play in the 3rd. A game changer came with Colton taking charge to go end to end, flipping in the puck to take the lead! A few rushes later, Mac added another. But the play of the game came at 2:31 left in the game. Aiden took the puck in his own end, saw lots of light, & headed right in to score his first big goal! A couple more goals sealed the day, And Woolwich LL#1 would strongly take a 8 -3 lead to win the Woolwich Cup Challenge tournament!!!!!

The MVP of the game - Aiden Von Kannen
