Game 13 vs St George
The Wildcats made their 5th road trip game down to the community of St. George. A mid afternoon game time brought everyone together with a lot of hockey energy to do their best against the Generals.
The 1st period brought the boys out with good hustle. A few rushes up & down the ice, led to a Woolwich goal at the 3:07 mark. A scrabble in front of the net, led to a loose puck that Turner flipped up and in. St. George would answer with a break in rush of their own, tying the game at 6:22. It would be a 1-1 tie after one.
The energy in the game began to take on a different role, leading to penalties for body checking & tripping. A power play goal by the Generals gave them the lead. The Wildcats kept their composure, continuing to pursue the puck. With 4 minutes left in the second, Turner would find another loose puck to tie it at 2.
Another tight 3rd period lay ahead. Puck battle after puck battle led to St. George taking the lead 4 minutes in. "We are still in this guys!" was coming from the coaches. For 3 -4 minutes, the Wildcats held the puck in the offense zone, getting more then their share of chances. And as many games before, their chance did come. Mac would poke at a loose puck near the post. There was only 1: 38 in the game, And it was tied again. The 5th tie of the year, getting another valuable point in the standings. Atom #1 could still say they were undefeated, and the 'Never give up' mentality continued to persevere for our team.
