2022-23 U10A Tryout Letter
Welcome to the 2022-2023 U-10 ‘A’ tryouts. My name is Sal Abate and I will be the head coach for the upcoming season. It is important that each family understands the tryout process, and how it will be managed.  Please carefully read the information below:

Registration & Sign-up:

All players must pay the registration and tryout fee before their first ice time. If you have not paid a tryout fee, please contact Catherine at [email protected].

Registration details for the 2022-2023 season can be found on the WMHA website. Tryout fees are $75/player and are done through the HCR 3.0 Registration system.

Each registered player who pays the tryout fee will receive the opportunity to participate in at least 2 tryout ice times before releases.

Tryout Practice & Exhibition Game Schedule:

The following tryout & exhibition ice times have been scheduled and approved by WMHA:

Pre-Tryout Skate                             September 24th – 11:00 am -12:15 pm (Mcleod Pad)

Tryout Skate                                    September 25th – 11:30 am – 12:45 pm (Snyder Pad)

Exhibition Game                             September 26th – 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm (St Jacobs Arena)

Tryout Skate                                    September 27th – 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm (McLeod Pad)

Tryout Skate                                    September 29th – 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm (Snyder Pad)

Exhibition Game                             Oct 1st – 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (New Hamburg – Optimist Arena)

Evaluation Process:

Several non-bias evaluators consisting of past WMHA Coaches will be assessing the players. Players will be ranked on skating, puck handling, shooting and compete level. I will also be looking for players who possess a positive attitude, passion for the game, willingness to learn and a team first mentality.

Selection Process:

Please visit the U-10 A team page at Woolwichminorhockey.ca for tryout information, lineups, releases and team notes.  Tryout password will be given out when jersey is handed back in.

As mentioned earlier, each registered player who pays the tryout fee should receive the opportunity to participate in at least 2 of the tryout ice times.

Player releases will only begin after the second tryout ice time. Releases will be communicated online.

For any player who is released, I will make myself available 24-hours after the player is released to provide feedback, discuss areas of opportunity and any other matter relevant with the player and the tryout process.  You can contact me via email at [email protected]
