As per directions from Hockey Canada, the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF), the Ontario Minor Hockey League (OMHA) and Federal and Provincial authorities, all hockey operations (on-ice, off-ice and administrative) have been suspended.

FAQ


Q: Is the 2019-2020 season cancelled?

A: Yes, Hockey Canada has ended the season. Details can be found here.

Q: Can I register for the 2020-2021 season?

A: Yes, registration is open for next season. At this point, we don't know what next season will look like. We wait for direction from the OMHA.

Q: What about Tryouts?

A: We cannot say when tryouts will be held. There are many rumours floating around but at this point, no Return to Hockey framework has been provided by Hockey Canada or the OMHA. The only official communication received as been the Open Letter to all Canadian from Hockey Canada which has not provided any detailed information.

Q: What happens to my registration fees if the 2020-2021 season is cancelled?

A: All fees are to be kept in trust as per direction from the OMHA. Fees will be refunded.

Q: What about payment for the 2020-2021 season?

A: Payments can be made via credit card when you register through HCR OR by sending a cheque to WMHA. We continue to receive mail.

Q: When is the early bird deadline?

A: The early bird deadline has been extended from May 31st 2020 to June 30th 2020

Q: Is there any financial assistance available?

A: Please reach out to WMHA or Friends of Hockey to discuss.

Q: When will the Annual Meeting be held?

A: At this point, the Annual Meeting has been deferred indefinitely as per direction from the OMHA. We are looking into the option of holding it virtually.

Q: I was hoping to join the Executive via the Annual Meeting, what can I do now?

A: If you are interested in being part of the executive, please reach out to [email protected] to discuss. Members can be added which will later be voted on at the Annual Meeting when it's held.

Q: What about next years Coaches?

A: The Coach Selection Committee has resumed and any interviews will be held virtually.

Q: Can I still request a Permission to Skate form?

A: At this point, No. Once direction has been provided by the OMHA, we will provide an update.

Q: What do we do with Jerseys and Equipment that we still have?

A: Your 2019-2020 season coach will reach out to you and outline a safe way to return the Jerseys/Equipment. This will assist in ensuring that once we do get approval to start hockey again, we can hit the ground running.

Q: What about tournaments for the 2020-2021 season?

A: The OHF and Hockey Canada have put a stop to all tournaments for next season. They are not cancelled but teams cannot register for any tournaments and any fees paid for tournaments should be refunded.

Q: Has Hockey Canada given authority to members to develop a return-to-hockey timeline as seen here?

A: Yes. We are waiting on direction from the OMHA but a Return to Hockey Framework has been issued by the OHF. Please see https://www.ohf.on.ca/risk-management/return-to-hockey-covid-19-response for more information.

Q: Is there Return to Play documentation available?

A: Yes. the OHF has released this Return to Hockey Framework.
