The Dan Snyder Memorial Scholarship is now accepting applications for the 2019 scholarships. As in past years there will be one recipient from each of the following three categories: “Elmira Sugar Kings”, “Woolwich Minor Hockey” and “Woolwich Community at Large”.
In October 2003, local hockey hero Dan Snyder succumbed to injuries as a result of a car crash in Atlanta, Georgia. In Dan’s memory, funds were raised by the NHLPA and other donors and in 2004 the Dan Snyder Memorial Scholarship Fund was born.
We are currently soliciting nominations of candidates who are residents of the Township of Woolwich who display Dan’s characteristics of determination, desire, good sportsmanship and community involvement. All successful candidates must be enrolled in a qualified accredited post secondary institution and funds are deposited directly to the school the recipient will attend that fall, under the direction of the K-W Community Foundation.
Applications can be found at www.37risingstars.com and follow the links under “Scholarship”. Applications will be accepted until June 17, 2019 and can be mailed to or dropped off at the following address:
