Dear parents
and players,
I would like to welcome all players and
parents to this year's U16 'A’ tryouts. This letter is to inform everyone
involved about the tryout process. There will be 5 tryouts dates in
total. Please check the website beforehand as ice times may change. Releases
will start being made after the 2nd tryout on September 25th and
continue with each following tryout date. I will have several independent
evaluators in the stands and ask that they not to be disturbed. I also ask that players not use their name
bars during the tryout process as well.
Lastly please be sure to follow all Covid rules as posted on the WMHA site.
The tryouts will be broke down as follows: Tryouts 1- 3 will begin drill based and end with a scrimmage to observe game like situations. Tryouts 4 and 5 will be exhibition games vs New Hamburg one home and one away. During the tryouts, players will be evaluated on the following:
1. hockey skills and knowledge (skating, shooting, puck control etc) 2. work ethic
3. attitude and behaviour
4. ability to follow instructions (coachability)
Players should be reminded that evaluations begin the moment they receive a jersey for tryouts. The players will be observed on their behaviour both on and off the ice. All I ask is that each player give their best effort on the ice and listens when instructions are given. If a player is not sure of any instruction, please ask any of the instructors on the ice. Lastly, good luck and HAVE FUN!!!
Myself, the coaching staff, and third party evaluators will be doing individual assessments during each ice time, and will not discuss any results with anyone outside of these individuals. There will be no cuts made until completion of the 2nd ice time. At this time, a roster of those making the initial cut will be posted on the WMHA website during the day Sunday September 26th. Players will be listed by their jersey numbers. The players listed on this initial list are asked to continue to attend the tryouts. Further cuts will be made after this each additional tryout until the final roster is complete. The final roster will be posted on the WMHA website during the evening after the final exhibition game.
To access the Tryout Player List go to the U16 ‘A’ page on the WMHA website and select Tryout Player List on the left side of the screen. Use 06wildcats for the password.
Previous REP experience does not guarantee placement on this team and all players will be given equal consideration during the tryout process.
