Richmond Hill Tournament
The Wildcats made the big trip to the Oak Ridges Tournament to experience their 1st round robin. There would be lots of good fun, along with its share of disappointments in the weekend.
Friday night was time for many to find there way to the hotel, check in, & join in with many others from Woolwich. Atom LL#2, Novice #1 & #2 would share the hallways and pool. A pretty good game of mini sticks would play itself into the night.
Saturday brought on the real hockey. Many would make their way to the Bond Head Arena to watch LL#2 play in the first game, starting at 1:30 in the afternoon. Our boys would hit the ice at 2:30 against the Point Edward Blackhawks. Early on, the Hawks would control the game, taking a 2-0 lead. Woolwich would work their way back into the game, but would come up short. A 3-2 loss.
The team & families would enjoy a pizza supper back at the hotel. Thanks to everyone who contributed.
Game 2 started at 7:30 vs. the first of two Oak Ridge Kings teams. The Wildcats fell behind 2-0 in the first, but got one back by Mac to end the period. The Kings would go up 3-1, but as many time before, our boys did not give up. Working hard, right to the end of the 2nd, would tie it up at 3. The tie would be how it would end. 3-3. Special note to Connor who played one of his best games.
Sunday morning came early with game time at 8:30AM. Another Oak Ridges team would be our last opponent. The Kings would get a little more 'Puck Luck' then us, & would get to a 2 -0 lead. Despite out working the Kings, the Wildcats would take the loss in the final game. But no one would hang their head. The Wildcats would learn a lot in the weekend away. Two tough losses came with hard work against tough opponents, & prepared us for our home tournament that comes the next weekend!
