The OMHA Playoffs are off and running for the Atom AE WILCATS
The Atom Ae boys are in tough going up against the Hespeler Shamrocks from the Clover Patch and the New Hamburg Huskies from the Dog Pound in a Round Robin series. The Cats start off with 2 games off the bat against the clover pickers. And then 3 in row against the flea bitten mutts from the Pound. Then will end the round off back at the Clover Patch.

The Cats started out tough at The Lair where a hard pressing Shamrock team came out flying. Scoring Twice in the first. The cats srambling, The Shamrocks go up another making it 3-0 in the second. Late in the second the Cats #16 Shantzy gets a pass from #4 The Freak Mikel. Shantzy does the old wrap around and scores 3-1 Rocks. In the third the Shamrocks still over powering the Cats score another making it 4-1. #6 Hartman gets the puck mid ice and passes it to #saven Soft Hands Garrett who wrists one past the Leprchaun in net 4-2. With time running out the Shamrocks add one more ending the game 5-2. Not a good night for the Wilcats. Who Rocks The Shamrocks Rock this night.

Going in to the Clover Patch the Cats have their game faces on. Looking for pay back from 2 nights ago The Cats come out roaring and Early on go up #5 Lucas Radler sends a pass to #saven Soft Hands who in turn finds #15 Nightmare who slams the puck home making it 1-0. Two unanswered golas by the Rocks they go up 2-1 Hard fighting Wilcats come back a hard fighting #12 Cole Digger throws a pass across the ice to an open #8 Gavin Wilcat Jr. and breaks in on goal and scoring five hole as he runs over the goalie. Seconds later a #8 Wilcat Jr. wins the draw back to #elaven Brewy who sends the puck up the middle back to #8 Wilcat Jr. Who scores on the breakaway his second of the night. Late in the third the Rocks score tying the game 3-3. Over time both teams battled hard and the game remains tied 3-3.

The battle at the Dog Pound the game started out rough and went that way till the bitter end. The Cats take first scratch and clawed their way into the Dogs end #12 Digger send a pass to #8 Gavin Wilcat Jr. who opens the scoring for the Cats 1-0. But, not to much later the flea bitten dogs would bite back with one of their own and tie the game 1-1. In the third #8 Wilcat Jr. grabs the puck chips it up the boards to #9 the Big Dog who takes it down the ice an open #12 Digger calls for the puck and gets the pass goes in on the Dogs goal keep "and like that tick, tack, toe give a dog a bone" jams the puck into the back of the net endingthe game a 2-1 victory over the dogs.
New Hamburg 3 @ Woolwich 2
The Dogs come down for another battle and a battle it was. A back and forth game the Cats Soft Hands Garrett opened up the scoring with a break free pass from Mitch Hartman, Soft Hands wrists one past the goal heeps blocker going up 1-0. A cheap goal scored in the second from a offside the was not caught by the refs (one off many blown calls) makes it 1-1 but the Ctas will not let down with the Dogs hit after hit and the refs not calling a thing the Cats get another goal given to Shantzy from a scramble out front. The third period was blown by the refs call after call of kids stepping on sticks and getting tripping penalties and no calls on body checking or boarding with players getting hurt. Makes me sick. The dogs dump the puck and bat the puck out of the air "high stick" they retrieve the puck ref does not blow down and the pass up to the high sticker goes in on a break and ties the game with minutes left in the game. With a minute left a bad call puts the Cats down once again. Over time with one in the box Coach Wilcat giving his instruction, refs blow the whistle Coach Sippy explains the 2min rule to the ref between Over time but the young ref gets his back up like he had a date to go to and was in some kind of hurry. Coach Sippy takes a page out of Coach Duane "Chadwick"s book and gets a 2 min now the Cats are down 5 on 3 the puck drops and within 2 mins of overtime the Dogs score on the power play 3-2 final. Refs need to have more of a back bone and should not be the ones making the out come of a game and also know the rules of the game Coach Wilcats thoughts only.
New Hamburg 2 @ Woolwich 0
Not much to say for this game was a great battle no scoring till the final minutes of the game and an empty netter the boys battled hard on this one and Coach Wilcat will lay down his big shoulders and say he was out coached for this one. As well as a much better refereed game.
Next game Sunday Feb. 2nd at the Clover Patch

This is Coach Wilcat signing off for now.
