The Elmira Jr. Sugar
Kings captured the U18 Early Bird Tournament title this past weekend with a
dominant showing from start to finish.
The
team opened Friday with a hard-fought 2–1 win over the South Muskoka Bears,
followed by a commanding 8–1 victory against the Tri-Center Jr. Attack. With
those results, Elmira secured first place in their pool and headed into
Saturday’s lone game against the Georgian Bay Islanders, earning another 8–1
win.
In
Sunday’s semifinal, the Kings once again met the Tri-Center Jr. Attack, pulling
out a tight 4–3 win to advance to the championship game. The final was a
rematch against the South Muskoka Bears, and Elmira rose to the occasion,
shutting them down with a 5–0 victory to claim the title.
It was a true team effort
all weekend long, with contributions coming from every player on the roster.
