I would like to welcome all players and parents to this years Major Atom A Tryouts.
This communication is to inform everyone about the upcoming Tryout Process.
Welcome to the 2016 - 2017 Hockey Season!
My name is Martin Kane and I am privileged and proud to be afforded the opportunity to be the Coach for this upcoming season. I am genuinely excited and looking forward to coaching the Major Atom A team. Our goal is to encourage all players to develop, new skills, and create a "team first" mentality in a fun, competitive and positive environment.
There will be 5 tryouts:
1) Wednesday May 4th @ 5:30 - 6:30 PM Snyder Arena Elmira
2) Thursday May 5th @5:30 - 6:30 PM Snyder Arena Elmira
3) Saturday May 7th @ 11:30 AM Exhibition Game vs New Hamburg Snyder Arena Elmira
4) Sunday May 8th @ 10:30 AM Exhibition Game at New Hamburg
5) Wednesday May 11th @ 5:30 - 6:30 PM Snyder Arena Elmira
Cuts will be made after the 2nd tryout on Thursday May 5th.
The tryouts will be coordinated by me and run by experienced Hockey Assistants. All players will be evaluated by independent evaluators, who have extensive hockey and minor coaching experience, and myself.
The tryouts will enable me and my assistant evaluators to asses the following;
1) Hockey Skills and Hockey Knowledge
2) Attitude, Behaviour and Work Ethic
3) Ability to Follow Instructions
4) Supportive Team Player
Tryout Process
For tryout time and locations, please see the above dates and times, but also check the Team Calendar for any last minute changes.
* Players should check in at the table before each ice time to receive an assigned jersey. Jerseys MUST be returned to the table after each ice time.
* All tryout communication will be done via the website on the Tryouts Results page. This is a secure page that requires a password to access. The password will be provided at the first tryout date. This page will be updated after every right date.
There are a total of 15 positions available this year (13 skaters and 2 goalies).
All players will need to earn their position on the team. Unfortunately, the tryout period is relatively short, which makes selecting a final roster challenging. Players are reminded that it is therefore very important to show their best at every opportunity, both on and off the ice.
Updates will be posted online as quickly as possible following each ice time, starting after the completion of the 2nd tryout. If your number isn't listed, you're invited to attend AE tryouts in the fall. Please check the www.woolwichminorhockey.ca site for updates.
